DanCo

"Two Dans'll do ya" still makes me laugh. A slightly saucy (or is it salty?) take on two carpenters in the then-saturated remodeling market of Savannah (2001, perhaps?). I had to help them stand out from the crowd...

CREATE

A Georgia Tech project involving high school students and some free swag that we hoped they might actually use after the event and not chuck under the bed. Thus the mock-industrial look without being, um, actually edgy.

Science Cafe

This was another fun one, a poster about fascinating, engineering-related lectures to be held at an eco-friendly, alternative-minded coffeehouse. And that's enough hyphens for anyone.

So I drew a chemist and coffee.

Skylark

I do love this - this was a commissioned retirement gift for a Georgia Tech administrator who was very kind to our campus. I don't think it's what they were after (as I was asked for a picture of the campus with this poor man's head hovering over it) but I talked them into it. Thank goodness.

Skylark Tribute

Of course I had to include Johnny Mercer...a local boy! Also, much fun with typography here, as well as an enhanced photo of the main fountain in Savannah's Forsyth Park. (Not as enhanced as the one in the photo pages, though.)

Hey, Albert

This happened a couple of days after I was thinking about the movie "Event Horizon." I haven't seen the movie but event horizon has always been one of my favorite physics/astrophysics terms and the movie didn't look very good and I was ticked that they stained the loveliness of the construct. Oh, no, wait, actually it was probably because I had figured out how to fake 3d wireframes in Illustrator that morning. And the shape reminded me of a black hole. And then I thought about the movie and ground my teeth for a while. Until I got lost in making this:

Relativity fun

I had the view of our campus, as I had made a 3d rendering in Bryce from the construction blue prints. (Sadly, I was extremely accurate in the landscaping, which is barren.) And Ma Tech had just redone their campus map graphics and had a rendering available that matched mine with a bit o' tweaking. Voila! Take that, "Event Horizon."

Directional Kiosks

This came up at a time when I hadn't drawn in a while, so I loved it. Two of a proposed six, though, and then the project was abandoned as the poster holders to go atop the kiosks had been misplaced. Dang.

Directional Kiosks

I imagined students would like to look at something besides Fournier transforms.

Dogwaffle

Dogwaffle is a sensational painting and animation program - the level of detail and the simulation of different media is amazing. Here are two portraits I did using the plain old free version.

Savannah Hilton-Head Airport

From 2002...a series of ads for a kiosk in the Savannah airport. All were drawn in Illustrator (did I mention that the gradient mesh is one of the greatest tools ever devised?).

Airport Designs

And here's what they looked like installed. The photo on the right is a mock-up of the more recent posters (2007).
